Since December 19, 2016, Krishi Vigyan Kendra, Kondmepudi has been operating with a 20-mandal operational area in three districts: Anakapalli (8 mandals), Visakhapatnam (5 mandals), and Alluri Seetha Rama Raju (7 mandals). Thus, KVK Jurisdiction area, having 20 mandals (13 plain mandals and 7 Tribal Mandals) and 1848 villages. The district of Anakapalli District having 10 mandals (Buchayyapet, Ravikamatam, Chodavaram, Cheedikada, V. Madugula, K. Kotapadu, Devarapalle and Sabbavaram) with 284 villages. The district of Alluri Seetha Rama Raju district having 7 mandals (Paderu, Hukumpet, Munchingput, Pedabayalu, Dumbriguda, Araku and Anantagiri) with 1463 villages.
The district of Vishakapatnam having 5 mandals (Pendurthi, Anandapuram, Bheemili, Padmanabham and Visakhapatnam rural) 101 villages. KVK, Kondempudi had a multidisciplinary group of scientists that collaborates with the district’s veterinary, horticulture, agriculture, and related departments. KVK, Kondempudi caters the needs of farming community and carries out mandated activities such as training programmes, awareness campaigns, demonstrations and capacity building programmes etc. The introduction of high yielding varieties, new farming technologies, disease-resistant varieties of field crops, horticultural crops, fodder crops, and value-added products made from materials readily available locally are just a few of the technological interventions that KVK’s has been successful in demonstrating to solve the problems of the farming community.
Management of the agency
Krishi Vigyan Kendra, Kondempudi, Kondempudi comes under Acharya N. G. Ranga Agricultural University with the vision of promoting research and extension programmes in agriculture and allied sciences. ANGRAU is pioneer in the generating technologies which improve farm production and income to farmers through location specific research in the field of agriculture and allied sciences for sustainability and profitability of agriculture. Also, provides opportunities for farmers, rural youth and women for learning and adoption of improved agro-technologies and revitalize the extension activities through the creation of specific infrastructure in each district.
Key areas of functioning
- Conducting On farm Testing, refining and documenting technologies for developing location specific sustainable land use systems.
- Organising front line demonstrations in various crops to generate production data, to popularize new varieties and new technologies.
- Conducting long term vocational training courses in agriculture and allied vocations for the rural youth which emphasis on “learning by doing” for generating self-employment through institutional financing.
- Organising training programmes for practicing farmers, farm women and extension personnel to update the advances in agricultural research and technology.
- Organizing awareness programmes to promote the new technologies, new varieties in Agriculture, Horticulture and allied sectors.
- Conducting Field diagnostic surveys to find out the critical problems facing by the farmers in the field level and provide the suggestions to solve the problems
